Semester Registration and Computer Services

Computer services

We advise you to get familiar with the various computer services at HiST, as they are necessary tools for all students. The very first thing you should do is activate your user account. Below you will find information on how to do this.

Registration and PIN code

Students are required to register at the beginning of each semester, and students failing to do so will not get access to the computer services and other facilities on campus.

If you have not already received your student number an PIN code by mail, please contact the service desk or the international coordinator at your faculty for help.

Without a student number and PIN code you will not be able to use computers or access computer services at your campus. HiST IT regulations state that the PIN code is strictly personal, and should not be given to other persons. If you loose or forget your PIN code, or suspect someone else knows it, please contact the college administration to obtain a new one.

Semester fee, student and access card

In order to utilise the services available to members of the Student Union (for example, discounts offered by the railways, buses and airlines, theatres, exhibitions etc.), you should obtain a student card from the service centre at your campus. Exchange students participating in the Nordplus and Erasmus programmes will get this card free of charge. All other students will get the student card after having presented the receipt of the Student Union membership fee (semester fee) payment. The semester, paper and copy fee is around NOK 500 for one semester. It is not possible to sit for exams without having paid the semester fee, except for Nordplus and Erasmus students. The card must be presented at all examinations, when borrowing books from the library, and used with the PIN code it serves as a key card on campus.

User name and password

With your user name and password you can login to HiST computer network, where you can save your files to your own home directory and to your own electronic mail box. User Accounts for students are generated automatically from registered data in HiST's administrative student system.

In order to access your user name and be able to choose a password, you will need the following information:

  • Your PIN code
  • Your student number
  • Your date of birth

Please proceed to this page: http://hist.no//passord to set your pass word. Before you start filling out the form, please check the box next to "I accept the rules of usage (Norwegian only)".

If you need help when setting your password, you may call the user centre on phone 73 55 99 00 or send an e-mail to brukersenter@hist.no . Leave your mobile number and describe your problem, and they will gett back to you.

E-mail

An e-mail account will be generated automatically, and will be displayed on the screen when you are setting your password. It is very important you use this e-mail address while studying at HiST, as all information from the university college will be sent to this address. Where to find a computer? To get your user name and create a password, you may use a computer in the library without having to log in. After having obtained username and password, you will have access to the computer labs on your campus.

It´s learning

This is the online learning environment at HiST, and functions as a support and working environment for teaching and studying. Please note that this will be the main source for academic information.

To get access to it's learning you need to have completed the steps to obtain a username and password as described above. In addition, all details regarding courses etc. must have been registered in our administrative student system. Please note that some students will have to complete this registration at the faculty after arrival.

Go to it's learning, choose your language and log in wirh Feide: http://hist.no/content/37445/Palogging-itslearning

When you log in, you will be greeted with a note saying that you agree to let it's learning collect and store information about you. You are required to agree to this in order to use it's learning. If you have any questions, please call or send an email to help desk.
